About Suzanne
Providing Counseling for Teens & Adults
A little about my experience & therapeutic approach: I have a master’s degree in Counseling, a bachelor’s degree in Social Ecology, and am a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist (LMFT) with over 25 years of experience working with children, adolescents, and adults in private practice, university settings, both private & public schools K-12, and non-profit agencies. I provide both individual and group supervision for MFT’s in training and, as an AAMFT Approved and CAMFT Certified Supervisor, I provide supervision to LMFT’s who are working towards their own supervisor certifications. Additionally, I teach graduate courses in Marriage & Family Therapy as a way to give back to the profession and stay closely connected to the newest developments in the field.
My experience over this length of time has been quite broad, enabling me to effectively work with a diversity of clients and issues. I currently specialize in working with adolescents and their parents, assisting in this important developmental stage as kids transition from childhood into young adulthood with a focus on online Teletherapy counseling sessions which give my clients the flexibility and comfort of chatting from home. I also work with adult individuals, couples, and families, and collaborate with community agencies, schools, and medical providers in providing effective treatment to my clients.
My treatment integrates a variety of different theoretical models, dependent upon the needs of the client and the treatment goals agreed upon. Generally, I conceptualize from a family systems’ perspective and utilize a collaborative, humanistic, psychodynamic approach. I am well-versed in Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy & Solution-Focused Therapy, integrating these and other approaches into my treatment plans as necessary & appropriate. As online counseling has become more popular among my clients, I have also become proficient in virtual therapy.
